IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Mighty Macs women's volleyball team kicked off their 2022 season on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Penn State – Brandywine Nittany Lions.
The Macs found themselves in a tight first set holding a 17-14 lead. Senior
Isabelle Davis served out the match on an eight-point run.
The Nittany Lions rebounded taking the second set 25-22. The Macs made a late run in the set, getting the score to 23-22, before the Nittany Lions closed out the set.
In the third set the Macs jumped out to a 10-4 lead with junior Lilly Burnette serving six straight points. The Macs took advantage of their opportunities to take the third set 25-16. The Mighty Macs then continued their success into the fourth set where they closed out the contest with a 25-16 victory.
Senior
Isabelle Davis led the way for the Macs offensively with 16 Kills. Junior
Isabella Ridgell had 12 kills. Junior Emily Ettein had a team high 46 Assists on the day. On the defensive end the Macs were led by
Lily Burnette with 31 digs.
The Macs are back in action on Saturday, September 3
rd with a Tri-Match at Washington College. The Macs will play Wilson College at 2:00 PM and Washington College at 4:00 PM.
