CHESTERTOWN, Md - Immaculata women's volleyball team competed in a tri-match against Wilson College and Washington College on Saturday, splitting their two matches. In their first match they defeated Wilson 3-0 before losing to the host Washington 3-0.
The Mighty Macs' first match of the day was against the Wilson Phoenix. The Mighty Macs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead against the Phoenix in the first set and did not look back defeating the Phoenix 25-17.
Set two began with the Mighty Macs building a 6-2 lead early. After dropping two straight points, the Macs went on a 9-3 run to take 15-6 lead over the Phoenix. The Mighty Macs would go on to win the set 25-14.
In set three the Mighty Macs built a 23-23 lead before the Phoenix ran off 7 straight points to close the lead to 23-20. The Macs closed out the match taking the set 25-20.
Offensively, the Mighty Macs were led by Isabelle Davis with 12 kills, Ava Thorley with 7 kills, and Emily Ettien with 26 Assists. On the Defensive side, Lily Burnette had 17 digs to lead the Macs.
Immaculata then went on to face the host Washington College Shorewomen for their second match of the day. The Shorewomen sprinted out to a quick 10-2 lead. The Shorewomen never looked back taking the first set 25-8.
Washington went on to take the lead early in the second set building a 21-12 lead. Following a time-out, the Mighty Macs ran off 5 straight points to close the lead to 21-17. Washington went on to win the set 25-18 and closed out the match winning the third set 25-19 to win 3-0.
The Mighty Macs record for the season stands at 2-1.
The Mighty Macs return to action on Tuesday, September 6th when they travel to play at Bryn Mawr College at 7:00 P.M.
