GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Immaculata men's lacrosse team took care of business on Saturday as they defeated Gwynedd Mercy 10-5. Five Mighty Macs scored two goals apiece while
Cole Metzger recorded another 20-save performance in net for the Macs.
The Mighty Macs took control in the first quarter, scoring three goals while keeping the Griffins scoreless in the first 14 minutes of action.
Bailey Manion,
Steve Long, and
Joseph Biuso each scored goals on the stretch. The Griffins then their first goal with one minute remaining in the quarter, a goal that would be quickly erased as Manion scored with three seconds left on the quarter.
The second quarter was a quiet one as only two goals were scored on the period. The Macs owned both of those goals as
David Azzarano and
Anthony Inserra each scored, giving the Macs a 6-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Mighty Macs maintained their five-goal lead for majority of the second half, matching the Griffins goal-for-goal. Inserra, Azzarano, Long, and Biuso each recorded their second goals of the game during the second half, solidifying what would be a 10-5 victory for the Mighty Macs.
While Inserra, Manion, Biuso, Azzarano, and Long all recorded two goals on the game, Inserra captained the charge for the Macs with five total assists for seven points on the game.
Senior
Cole Metzger was the difference-maker on the day for the Mighty Macs, recording 20 saves in goal for the Macs, shutting down a strong Griffins' offense. Metzger now stands with 193 saves on the season, 40 away from the program record of 233 set by Andrew Sim in 2008.

th as they face Atlantic East newcomer Centenary in a 7:00 P.M. matchup.
