IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's tennis team honored its two seniors following their victory against Cabrini on Saturday. The Mighty Macs now conclude conference play with a 4-1 record, securing the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Tournament.
The Macs' first doubles team of
Annamarie Degnan and
Pamela Kontaras won their set in 8-0 fashion. In second doubles, the Macs' two seniors,
Jessica Dougherty and
Kelly O'Brien, won their match 8-5.
Audrey Keen and
Jenna Muttik made it a full doubles sweep for the Macs, winning third doubles 8-0.
Degnan kicked off singles action for the Macs, claiming first singles with two 6-1 decisions. Dougherty then swept second singles with two 6-0 victories while Kontaras claimed third singles 6-1, 6-0. O'Brien then swept her fourth singles match 6-0, 6-0 while Keen dropped her fifth singles set 6-0, 6-4. Muttik sealed the deal for the Macs with a sixth singles victory in two 6-1 decisions.
After the conclusion of their match, the Mighty Macs honored seniors
Jessica Dougherty and
Kelly O'Brien for their collegiate careers.
With the regular season coming to a close, the Macs look ahead to the postseason. Having secured the second seed in the Atlantic East Tournament, the reigning conference champions will host the Marymount Saints on Thursday, April 28
th as they look to return to the championship match.
