Manion Records Nine Points in Victory Over Rosemont

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Bailey Manion picked up nine total points as the Immaculata men's lacrosse team took down Rosemont 18-13 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Mighty Macs found themselves down in an early 3-1 deficit as the Ravens scored three goals in the first seven minutes of actions. The Macs responded by going on a four-goal run, led by Connor Teears who picked up three goals, before the Ravens would score again. At the end of the first quarter, the Macs owned a 6-4 lead with Teears scoring three goals while Joseph Biuso, David Azzarano, and Bailey Manion each picked up one goal.
 
Steve Long and Tyler Plantarich scored in the first five minutes of the second quarter to increase the Macs' lead. For the rest of the quarter, the Macs and Ravens were even at two goals each with Robert Wishart and Azzarano scoring for the Macs as the Macs led 10-6 at the half.
 
After Rosemont scored in the first minute of the second half, Immaculata scored five straight goals to take a strong 15-7 lead over Rosemont. Manion scored three goals for Immaculata while Azzarano and Long each picked up one. Rosemont then looked to cut into Immaculata's lead, scoring two goals in the final minutes of the third quarter. With the clock expiring, however, Ben Wesolowski ripped a long-distance goal to five Immaculata a 16-9 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
 
The Mighty Macs played a defensive game in the fourth quarter, only scoring two goals courtesy of Manion and Long. The Ravens scored four goals on the quarter but were not able to fight their way back into the game as the Macs won 18-13.
 
Manion led the way for the Macs offensively, scoring five goals and four assists, leading the Macs in both categories on the day. Teears, Azzarano, and Long each scored three goals while Azzarano added three assists on the game. Plantarich, meanwhile, led the Macs with six ground balls on the game while scoring one goal as well.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they open Atlantic East Conference play on the road against Cabrini.
