Men's Lacrosse Drops Away Tilt at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A scoreless fourth quarter cost the Immaculata men's lacrosse team as they dropped their contest against Delaware Valley 12-9 on Wednesday evening.
 
The Macs kicked off the game as Anthony Inserra scored not even a minute into the contest, giving the Macs an early 1-0 lead. After the Aggies scored two goals back-to-back, the Macs responded in kind as Steve Long and Inserra both scored to regain the Macs' lead. The Aggies then outscored the Macs 2-1 in the final five minutes of the first quarter as the score stood 4-4 after the first.
 
Inserra and Bailey Manion both scored in the first five minutes of the second quarter, giving the Macs 7-4 lead. Inserra scored one additional goal on the quarter as he matched the Aggies' two goals on the period, giving the Macs a 7-6 lead at the end of the first half.
 
Long scored just over a minute into the second half, increasing the Macs' lead to 8-6. Three straight goals from the Aggies, however, gave them the lead with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Connor Teears then scored with two minutes to go in the quarter, tying the match up at 9-9.
 
With the game tied up, Immaculata was unable to score in the fourth quarter while Delaware Valley scored three goals to secure a 12-9 final.
 
Anthony Inserra led the Macs on the game with four goals scored while Steve Long picked up three as well. In net, Cole Metzger made 22 saves for the Mighty Macs on 35 shots on goal.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action next Wednesday as they host Rosemont.
