Macs Beach Dolphins as Offense Surges

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata men's lacrosse team registered a season-high 15 goals as they took down the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Saturday afternoon.
 
Steve Long kicked off the match, scoring two goals in the first two minutes of action as the Macs claimed an early 2-1 lead. For the rest of the first quarter, the Macs and Dolphins matched each other blow-for-blow as the score stood at 4-3 at the end of the period.  Bailey Manion and Branden Smith picked up the Macs' goals on the stretch.
 
Just over two minutes into the second quarter, David Azzarano kicked off what would be a five-goal quarter for the Macs as he scored on an assist from Manion. Long picked up two additional goals on the period while Connor Teears and Manion each added a goal as well. The Dolphins, meanwhile, were kept to one goal on the quarter as the Macs owned a 9-4 lead at halftime.
 
After a goal from the Dolphins kicked off the second half, the Macs pressed the attack, scoring three goals in the third quarter. Teears picked up two goals while Manion added his third of the day, giving the Macs a 12-5 lead going into the fourth quarter.
 
The Mighty Macs matched the Dolphins blow-for-blow in the fourth quarter as both teams scored three goals on the quarter. Ben Wesolowski joined Manion and Teears to secure the Macs' victory as the Macs walked away with a 15-8 victory.
 
As a team, the Macs took 55 shots on the game to the Dolphins' 37. Azzarano, Smith, and Wesolowski each recorded their first goals of the season while Teaars, Manion, and Long led the Macs on the day with four goals each.
 
Cole Metzger earned the victory in net for the Macs, making 11 saves on 16 shots on goal over the course of 25 minutes played.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action next on Wednesday as they travel to Doylestown, Pa. for a 7:00 P.M. matchup against Delaware Valley.
