BALTIMORE, Md. - The Immaculata men's lacrosse team lost its contest against Goucher on Monday night 10-4.
After seven quiet minutes to kick off the game, Goucher scored two goals to take an early lead over Immaculata.
Anthony Inserra then scored in a man-up situation to put Immaculata on the board with five minutes remaining in the quarter.
The Gophers then went on a five-goal run going deep into the second quarter, claiming a 7-1 lead over the Macs. The Mighty Macs then responded with two goals in the final four minutes of the quarter as
Steve Long and
Bailey Manion scored to cut the deficit to 7-3 at the half.
The Gophers scored a goal three minutes into the third quarter, increasing their lead to 8-3. Inserra was next to score, scoring with five minutes left in the quarter. A goal two minutes later by the Gophers neutralized the goal for the Macs as the Gophers entered the fourth quarter with a 9-4 lead.
The fourth quarter was a quiet one with the Gophers scoring the lone goal of the quarter on their way to a 10-4 victory over the Macs.
Cole Metzger made 19 saves on the game while facing 44 shots in net for the Macs. Offensively, the Macs were led by
Anthony Inserra, who scored two goals while
Steve Long and
Bailey Manion each recorded one goal.
The Mighty Macs return to Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday as they face Albright in a 4:00 P.M. matchup.
