Men's Basketball Loses Regular Season Finale at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, Pa. – The Immaculata men's basketball team dropped their regular-season finale at Centenary on Saturday by a score of 80-74. The loss concludes the Macs' regular season with an overall record of 7-18 with a 4-8 record in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
The Cyclones jumped to an early lead over the Macs, claiming a 14-2 advantage after the first five minutes of play. After the first five minutes, the Macs' offense began to move, posting 27 points on the remainder of the first half. The Cyclones, however, matched the Macs with 32 points of their own, going into the half with a 46-29 lead over the Mighty Macs.
 
Tyler Tillery, Tim Schultice, and Asa Kitchen led the Macs offensively on the first half. Tillery recorded eight points, adding one rebound, one assist, and one steal. Schultice and Kitchen each scored seven points on the half while Kitchen also recorded two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
 
The Mighty Macs went on an 8-3 run to kick off the second half as they looked to narrow the Cyclones' lead. Over the first ten minutes, the Mighty Macs managed to half the Cyclones lead as the score stood 58-50. Unfortunately, the Cyclones prevented the Macs from closing the gap further, scoring 24 points in the final ten minutes to eclipse the Macs' 22 points as the final score stood at 80-74 in favor of Centenary.
 
Four Macs reached double-digits in points scored on the game. Asa Kitchen led the way, scoring 15 points while also leading the team with five assists and four steals. Gregory Vlassopoulos and Tim Schulitce each dropped 14 points while Tyler Tillery recorded seven on the game. Vlassopoulos and Tillery also led the Macs defensively with seven rebounds each.
 
The Mighty Macs now conclude the regular season with a 4-8 record in Atlantic East Conference play, lining up as the fifth-seed in the Atlantic East Tournament. The Macs will travel to the fourth-seeded Cabrini on Monday as they compete in the Atlantic East Quarterfinals.
