IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's basketball team honored its senior class on Wednesday evening as the Mighty Macs dropped a one-point contest against the Marymount Saints 58-57.
Before the start of the game, the Macs honored their three seniors:
Sydney Ott,
Meghan Ricker, and
Theresa Kearney for their hard work both on and off the court over the course of their collegiate careers.
The Saints utilized the first seven minutes of the game to build a 13-6 lead over the Mighty Macs. The Macs began to respond in the final three minutes of the quarter, scoring six straight points to leave the first quarter in a 13-12 game.
Reese Mullins scored four points on the quarter while
Morgan Falcone scored on a three-pointer.
The Macs then took the lead quickly in the second quarter, claiming a 24-18 lead five minutes into the quarter. Despite a minor rally from the Saints, the Macs dropped eight points in the final 80 seconds to maintain their lead, going into the half up 34-29.
At the half, Falcone and Mullins led the way offensively with seven points each while
Theresa Kearney and
Erin Kelly each scored five.
The third quarter began slow as only seven points were scored in the first five minutes of action. Up 36-34, the Macs kept on pace with the saints for the rest of the quarter, as each team scored nine points.
Marymount took the lead in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, keeping the Macs scoreless for the first four minutes as the score stood 47-45. The Saints increased their lead to 53-49 with 2:32 left on the clock. The Macs then scored seven straight points over the next two minutes, regaining a 56-53 lead with 37 seconds on the clock. The Saints, however, would score five points in the final 30 seconds, walking off with a 58-57 decision.
Mullins led the Macs offensively on the night with 11 points while Falcone and Kearney each recorded 10. Kearney also led the Macs with five rebounds and four assists on the night.
Meghan Ricker, meanwhile, led the Macs with three steals.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they compete in their regular season finale at Centenary.
