IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata men's basketball team could not recover from an early deficit as they dropped their Atlantic East Conference matchup against Neumann 67-53 on Saturday evening.
The Macs fell into a 10-0 hole early, scoring their first points five-minutes in on a layup from
Asa Kitchen. Though the Macs responded with a seven-point run in scoring, the Knights continued to apply pressure as the score stood at 22-11 in favor of the Knights with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Over the final nine minutes of the half, Kitchen led the Macs with six points scored as the Macs stood neck-and-neck with the Knights, going into the half down 35-22.
Kitchen stood as the Macs' only bright spot on the first half, scoring 10 points and adding three assists on the half.
Tyler Tillery, meanwhile, recorded three rebounds and two blocks on the half defensively.
The Macs slowly began to chip in the Knight's lead to start the second half as
Steven Dao scored eight points in the first eight minutes of the half as the score stoop 43-32. Unfortunately, each Mighty Mac point the rest of the way was met by a subsequent point for the Knights as the Knights outscored the Macs 24-21 the rest of the half, claiming the 67-53 victory.
Steven Dao led the Mighty Macs' offense on the game, scoring 13 points while adding a team-leading six rebounds.
Keith Farmer and Tillery also recorded six rebounds. Kitchen, meanwhile, scored 12 points on the game while adding three assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Monday night as they host Gwynedd Mercy in a 7:00 P.M. showdown.
