IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team dropped their non-conference match up against Wilson College on Tuesday afternoon 74-67. Immaculata had three players in double figures for the game.
In the first half Immaculata took an early 3-2 lead on a three-pointer from
Gregory Vlassopoulos , who returned to the Macs lineup after being out since November 27
th.
Tyler Tillery made a layup with 15:07 remaining in the half to take a 11-10 lead. Wilson responded by scoring the next nine points to take a 19-11 lead. Wilson's lead would get as high as 16 with 1:31 remaining in the half.
Gregory Vlassopoulos hit a jumper late to trim the Wilson lead to 43-30 going into the halftime break.
At the half,
Tyler Tillery led Immaculata 12 points, while collecting two rebounds, and adding two blocked shots. As a team Immaculata shot 11-for-24 (45.8%) from the field and 4-for-7 (57.1%) from behind the arc.
John Proctor hit a three-pointer, and
Tim Schultice scored consecutive baskets for the Macs to pull Immaculata within eight with 16:13 remaining in the half. Following a steal from Schultice,
Gregory Vlassopoulos hit a three-pointer to make the score 45-40. Wilson would respond and grow the lead back to 12 with 6:11 remaining in the game.
Tim Schultice hit a pair of three-pointers to pull Immaculata with in six. A pair of free throws by
Tyler Tillery would see the Macs get within two points, with the score 58-56 with 3:52 remaining. While the Mighty Macs attempted to complete the comeback late, they were unable to do so as the Phoenix claimed the 74-67 victory.
The Mighty Macs were led by
Tyler Tillery with 17 points, and six blocked shotes.
Gregory Vlassopoulos scored 16 points including shooting 4-5 from behind the arc and contributed three rebounds.
Tim Schultice scored 16 points and contributed five rebounds and three steals. The Mighty Macs shot 23-for-45 (51.1%) and 10-for-17 (58.8%) from behind the arc.
The Immaculata men's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, December 21
st when they host Defiance College at Alumnae Hall at 2:00 P.M.
