NEW YORK, Ny. – The Immaculata men's basketball team defeated Yeshiva University in a non-conference match up by a score of 69-63.
The first half of action saw the Mighty Macs trailing by as much as 12 points early on, but the Macs used their defensive efforts to climb back into the game and cut the Maccabees lead to six heading into the break, 31-26.
In the first half, the Mighty Macs saw seven players score, being led throughout the first 20 minutes of action by junior
Brandon Perez with 7 first half points.
The Mighty Macs threw the first punch in the second half, erasing the first half defecit and tying the game at 31. The teams would trade buckets back and forth, until Immaculata pulled away with just under 10 minutes to play.
Immaculata's lead was up to as high as 9 with just under 8:00 of game time to play, Yeshiva would not go down without a fight, as they cut the lead to two. The Mighty Macs would not be denied as they never squandered their lead behind key stops on the defensive end and clutch foul shooting down the stretch.
Senior
Tyler Tillery provided the dagger with just under 20 seconds to play, putting Immaculata up 9. A last second Yeshiva three pointer at the buzzer cut it to a 6 point victory for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata was led in scoring by
Tyler Tillery who had 14 points,
Tim Schultice added 13 as well as both
Steven Dao and
Brandon Perez adding 10 a piece.
Keith Farmer and
John Flood both had 3 assists.
Tim Schultice also added 9 rebounds for the Mighty Macs.
The Immaculata men's basketball team is back in action on Friday, December 16
th for a 2:00 match up against North Carolina Wesleyan at Alumnae Hall.
