Mighty Macs Defeat Eastern 60-53

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team was back in action on Monday night for their final game before the Thanksgiving Holiday at Eastern University. Immaculata bounced back from their heartbreaking loss on Saturday to defeat Eastern 60-53. 

In the first quarter, both teams struggled to get on the board early. Eastern scored 2:15 into the quarter to take the early 2-0 lead. Immaculata did not get on the board until 4:22 into the quarter when Tessa Liberatoscioli hit a free throw to make the score 2-1. Meghan Ricker followed with a 3-pointer to give the Macs their first lead at 4-2. Immaculata would take a 14-12 lead into the second quarter.  

At the midway point of the second quarter, Immaculata trailed Eastern 19-15. Abigail Boyer then stole the ball and hit a jumper that started an 11-point run that put Immaculata up 26-17. Immaculata would lead at halftime 32-23. Tessa Liberatoscioli had nine points, and Abigail Boyer had seven points and four steals in the first half. 

In the third quarter, Eastern came out aggressively and managed to close Immaculata's lead to 38-35 with just over three minutes left in the quarter. The Macs responded with a nine-point run capped by a late three-pointer from Reese Mullins. Immaculata led 47-37 at the end of the third quarter. 

In the final quarter, the Eagles would not go quietly, closing the score to 53-49 with 1:03 left on the clock. Meghan Ricker would ice the game for the Macs at the foul line hitting seven of eight free throws in the game's final minute to close out the 60-53 win. 

Immaculata got 39 points off their bench tonight. Leading the way for Immaculata was Tessa Liberatoscioli with 15 points and Meghan Ricker with 14 points. Abigail Lentowski scored eight points and added eight rebounds and Abigail Boyer scored seven points. Reese Mullins and Olivia Ettorre each scored five points and Mary deSimone added four points. 

Immaculata (4-2) will be back in action on Monday, November 28th when they travel to play at Penn State Abington at 6 PM.
