ABINGTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team was back in action on Monday night when they visited Penn State Abington. Reese Mullins had a career-best best night leading Immaculata to a 71-65 win to raise their record on the season to 5-2.
In the first quarter, Immaculata jumped out to an early lead behind Reese Mullins who scored 10 points in the opening frame. Immaculata would open an 11-point lead with just over three minutes remaining in the quarter at 19-8. Penn State Abington would end the quarter on a 5-0 run to close Immaculata's lead to 19-14.
In the second quarter, Penn State Abington scored six quick points to take their only lead of the night at 20-19. Immaculata would respond by retaking the lead behind consecutive three-pointers by Meghan Ricker. The Macs would rebuild their lead back to nine points behind scoring from Abigail Lentowski and Tessa Liberatoscioli. Penn State Abington managed to battle back hitting three three-pointers and Immaculata held a 32-30 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter Immaculata got started quickly with a steal by Erin Kelly and a driving layup from Abigail Lentowski. Reese Mullins continued her strong play scoring eight points in the quarter as Immaculata held a 54-41 lead at the end of three quarters. Immaculata would close out the game in the fourth quarter to win 71-55.
Reese Mullins led the way for the Mighty Macs with a career-high 26 points, shooting 10-10 from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line to go along with eight rebounds and three steals. Abigail Lentowski scored 14 points to go along with nine rebounds. Tessa Liberatoscioli was in double figures for a second straight game scoring 13 points.
Immaculata women's basketball will be back in action on Wednesday, November 30th when they travel to play at Moravian University at 7:00 PM.
