IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team hosted Penn State Brandywine tonight looking to bounce back from their loss to Ursinus on opening night. The Mighty Macs offense was on display tonight as the defeated the Nittany Lions 77-39. With the win the Macs improve to 1-1 on the season.
In the first quarter Immaculata jumped out to an early 12-5 lead behind a pair of three pointers by
Erin Kelly. Penn State Brandywine would close the score to 12-9. Immaculata then went on a seven-point run behind
Abigail Lentowski completing a three-point play at the foul line, a lay-up by
Abigail Boyer, and a pair of free throws from
Olivia Ettorre. Immaculata held a 25-13 lead after the first quarter.
In the second quarter Immaculata continued to show their offense out scoring Penn State Brandywine 22-12 in the quarter.
Reese Mullins scored six points in the quarter, and Immaculata got three pointers from
Morgan Falcone,
Erin Kelly, and
Meghan Ricker. Immaculata took a 47-25 lead into the halftime break.
In the third quarter Immaculata continued to control the play outscoring Penn State Brandywine 17-9 for the quarter.
Abigail Lentowski scored four points in the quarter, and
Morgan Falcone and
Tessa Liberatoscioli each hit a pair of free throws as the Macs carried a 64-34 lead into fourth quarter. Immaculata closed out the game in the fourth quarter to take the 77-39 win.
Immaculata was led by
Reese Mullins with 13 points, and seven rebounds,
Erin Kelly with 11 points and was three for three from behind the arc, and
Abigail Lentowski who contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
Morgan Falcone scored nine points, and
Olivia Ettorre scored six points and added five rebounds.
Mary deSimone,
Francesca Scarpone, and
Savanna Crowding each scored their first points in a Mighty Macs uniform tonight.
Immaculata women's basketball team will be back in action on Tuesday, November 15
th when then host Bryn Mawr College at Alumnae Hall. Tip off is at 6:00 PM.
