Women's Basketball Team Falls to Ursinus

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team opened their 2022-23 season last night falling to Ursinus by a score of 65-55.

Prior to last evening's game the Mighty Macs unveiled their 2021-22 Atlantic East Conference Championship banner and their 2022 NCAA Tournament Qualifying banners. This was the first Atlantic East Conference Championship, and the first time in program history that the Mighty Macs went dancing in the NCAA Tournament.

The first quarter found the Mighty Macs and the Bears in a back-and-forth game. Reese Mullins got the Macs started early with a three pointer that put the Macs up 3-2. The first quarter would see the lead change hands six times, with Ursinus leading 20-18 at the end of the quarter.

The teams remained in close contention in the second quarter Abigail Lentowski and Morgan Falcone each contributed four points. Ursinus held on to carry a three-point lead into half-time.

In the third quarter, the teams continued to battle, and Immaculata re-took the lead at 36-34 late in the quarter on a basket form Abigail Boyer. With ten seconds remaining in the quarter Reese Mullins pulled the Macs back to 41-40 on a jumper. Ursinus hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 44-40 lead into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter Ursinus went on to close out the game, to earn the 65-55 win.

Immaculata was led by Abigail Lentowski with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Morgan Falcone and Reese Mullins each contributed 10 points, and Abigail Boyer scored eight points. Freshman Olivia Ettorre scored her first points as a Mighty Mac in the first quarter of the game.

The Immaculata women's basketball team will be back in action on Friday, November 11th when they host Penn State Brandywine at Alumnae Hall. Tipoff is at 7:00 PM.
