GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- The
Immaculata University Women's Field Hockey team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University by a score of 1-0 with the victory coming in a decisive 4-3 advantage in a shootout in the Atlantic East Conference Quarterfinal. With the win the Mighty Macs advance to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2010.
The score after regulation was 0-0 while Gabrielle O'Brien and Abby
Fekete had one shot on goal, while Lauren
Buckel led the Macs with four shots on goal.
After regulation and double OT, the Mighty Macs won the shootout against Gwynedd Mercy by a score of 4-3. Abby

Vandenbraak scored in the shootout to lead the Mighty Macs to victory. Julia
Levase sealed the deal with two stellar saves on the defensive end in the shootout.
Levase was terrific in goal today as she had six saves today in the net today, including stopping a penalty-stroke with only 12 seconds left in regulation to keep the Griffins off the board throughout the match.
This playoff victory for the
Immaculata University Field Hockey Team is the first victory over Gwynedd Mercy University in program history after 21 previous contests.
The Mighty Macs will travel to face the Seahawks of St. Mary's College of Maryland this Wednesday, time is TBD.
