IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team won a non-conference match up with Rosemont College in a five-set thriller at Alumnae Hall.
The first set was a close one as it was full of runs for both teams. The Ravens ended up edging out the Mighty Macs taking the set 25-19.
The second set started out close as well, with both teams battling early.
Lily Burnette served three straight points, and
Isabelle Davis served two straight points as the Mighty Macs opened a 13-7 lead in the set resulting in a timeout for the Ravens.
Lily Burnette had a second three-point service run as the Macs took set two 25-14.
The competitive play continued in the with the third set being a game of runs. Rosemont jumped out to an early lead with Immaculata answering back with a run of their own to take a 10-6 lead. Immaculata stayed hot, taking the third set by a score of 25-14 again. The third set featured Junior
Emily Ettien move into sixth place all time in program history in assists with 710 career assists.
Immaculata jumped out to an early lead in the fourth set, before Rosemont answered to tie the set up early. Rosemont took advantage of some Immaculata miscues going on a run of their own to take the fourth set 25-21 to send the match to a fifth and deciding set.
The fifth set featured Immaculata jumping out to an 8-5 lead before the teams' switched sides.
Emily Ettien served the final three points as the Immaculata closed out the match winning set five 15-9.
The Mighty Macs were led offensively by
Isabelle Davis with 17 kills, and
Isabella Ridgell with 12 kills.
Emily Ettien registered 39 assists and five service aces.
Lily Burnette had three service aces, and
Isabelle Davis contributed two service aces for the Macs.
Immaculata women's volleyball team is back in action tomorrow, October 13th when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference match at Alumnae Hall at 7:00 PM.
