IMMACULATA,Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team captured a 3-2 victory over Marywood University to move to 2-0 Atlantic East Conference play.

The Mighty Macs came out rolling to start the first period, with junior
Lauren Buckel breaking free to give the Macs a 1-0 lead in the 7
th minute of action. The first period scoring continued with the Macs jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the 12
th minute, senior
Gianna Gatto found the back of the net off of an Immaculata corner, with Buckel assisting on the goal off of a corner.

Marywood would answer back with a goal in the 20
th minute of the match, which pushed the Immaculata lead to 2-1 heading into the half. Sophomore goalkeeper
Julia Levase stood strong throughout the match providing numerous saves in key moments to maintain the lead.

Freshman
Gabrielle O'Brien extended the Mighty Macs lead quickly into the second half, with a breakaway goal in the 31
st minute, assisted by junior
Lauren Vandenbraak. The Pacers would respond quickly, answering with a goal of their own in the 33
rd minute.

The match saw a scoreless fourth quarter from both teams, with tremendous defense throughout. The Mighty Macs held on with outstanding defensive plays down to the last second to prevent the equalizer from happening. The win marks the first time in the past ten years that the Mighty Macs have defeated the Pacers. Â

The Immaculata field hockey team is back in action on Saturday, October 15
th as they welcome conference foe Cabrini University to Draper Walsh Stadium for a 2:00 start as they look to continue Atlantic East Conference play.
