WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team competed in a tri-match against King's College and Lehman College on Saturday, splitting their two matches. In their first match the were defeated by King's 3-0, before beating Lehman in their second match 3-0.
Immaculata's first match of the day was against the host King's. The first set was a competitive as the Macs jumped out to an early 4-1 lead. The Monarchs responded and the score remained close to late in the set. With the score tied at 17-17 King's started a run of four straight points to take a 21-17 lead in the set. Trailing 23-18, Immaculata also had a run of four straight points to close the score to 23-22. Kings then closed out the set 25-22.
Kings would go on to close out the match taking set two by a score of 25-9 and set three by a score of 25-19.
Immaculata's second match of the day was against Lehman College. In the first set the Macs used four-point service runs by
Isabelle Davis and
Diana Rivera to open a 19-15 lead. The Macs closed out the set 25-20 on a kill from
Emily Ettien. In set two
Ava Thorley served seven straight points to help the Macs take the second set 25-9.
Immaculata jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead in the third set as
Emily Ettien served ten straight points. Immaculata would close out the match taking the third set 25-7.
Offensively, the Macs were led by
Mia Esposito with 14 Kills,
Isabelle Davis with nine kills, and
Emily Ettien with 29 assists.
Ava Thorley contributed four kills and four service aces. Defensively, the Macs were led by
Lily Burnette with 12 digs.
The Immaculata women's volleyball team is back in action tomorrow, Sunday October 2
nd when they open their Atlantic East Conference schedule at Marymount University. The contest is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
