Kearney Moves Into Second on All-Time Points List Following Win Over Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – Theresa Kearney moved into second place in Immaculata history in career points scored as the Macs defeated Marymount 81-69 on Wednesday evening. Kearney had 28 points scored to lead the Macs on the night,
 
The Macs jumped out to a quick lead against the Saints, taking a 9-3 lead over the first three minutes of play, lead by Theresa Kearney who scored five points on the stretch. The Saints then utilized the next four minutes of action catching up to the Macs at 11-10. Tessa Liberatoscioli and Reese Mullins then each scored four points in the final three minutes of the quarter to give the Macs the 19-14 advantage moving into the second quarter.
 
The second quarter began slowly as Marymount used the first four minutes to catch up to the Macs as the score stood at 19-18. Five minutes of back-and-forth action later, the score was tied at 28-28 with just over a minute remaining in the first half. Immaculata used that minute to score six points, including a three-pointer from Morgan Falcone, as Immaculata entered halftime with a 34-30 lead over Marymount.
 
The Mighty Macs put in a team effort in the first half as six players scored at least five points on the half. Reese Mullins and Abigail Lentowski led the Macs with six points each while Mullins earned five rebounds and Lentowski recorded four rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Macs shot 12-for-29 (41.4%) from the field on the half.
 
Up four points heading into the second half, the Macs had to battle the Saints to maintain their lead. Six minutes into the third quarter, the Saints tied the contest up 44-44. Over the next two minutes, the Saints managed to take a small 49-47 lead over the Macs before Lentowski tied the match back up on a layup. The Macs then regained a small lead of their own before the end of the quarter as the score stood 53-51.
 
Opening up the fourth quarter, the Macs took a strong lead over an 8-1 really, giving them a 61-52 advantage. Later, with three minutes remaining on the contest, Theresa Kearney sank a three-pointer to give the Macs an 11-point lead over the Saints. The three-pointer marked Kearney's 20th point on the game as well as her 1,331st career point, earning Kearney the distinction as the second highest-scoring athlete in Immaculata women's basketball history second only to Molly Lackman (1,908 career points).
 
While the Saints would attempt to mount a last-minute comeback, Kearney went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final minutes to prevent any comeback as the Macs claimed the 81-69 victory.
 
Kearney led the Macs on the night with 28 points score, going a perfect 14-for-14 from the free-throw line. Her 28 points now give her 1,339 on her career. Lentowski and Mullins each had seven rebounds on defense for the Macs while Lentowski also contributed with 12 points on the night.
 
The Macs are on the road next on Saturday as they travel to Scranton, Pa. for a 1:00 P.M. contest against Marywood.
