Women's Basketball Drops Contest At Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A slow first half proved fatal for the Macs as they dropped their non-conference matchup against Haverford on Monday by a score of 52-37.

Haverford jumped out to an early lead and did not look back, taking an 18-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Morgan Falcone recorded Immaculata's only points from the field, a three-pointer with two minutes remaining on the quarter, as Reese Mullins and Abigail Lentowski tallied one made free throw each for Immaculata.

The Fords' defense proved too much for the Macs to handle in the second quarter as the Mighty Macs were kept to six points in the second quarter while allowing ten points. Falcone dropped another three-pointer while Theresa Kearney recorded a layup and one made free throw on the quarter.

At the half, Falcone led the Macs with six points scored and one rebound while Kearney recorded three points scored and five rebounds.

The Macs remained flat-footed to begin the second half, allowing six points over the first two minutes of action. Then, however, the Macs began to respond, scoring six unanswered points of their own. The Macs and Fords went back-and-forth for the remainder of the third quarter as each team dropped 16 points on the quarter with the Fords maintaining their 44-27 lead.

The fourth quarter had much of the same in store as the Macs and Fords scored eight points each in the final 10 minutes of action. The Mighty Macs failed to gain ground as the Fords took home the victory in the 52-37 final score.

Morgan Falcone led the Macs offensively on the day with 11 points scored along with three rebounds and one assist. Kearney, meanwhile, recorded a team-leading six rebounds while adding seven points of her own.

The Mighty Macs return to conference play on Wednesday as they travel to Marymount for a 6:00 P.M. contest.
