Women's Basketball Wins Comebacker Against Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – The Immaculata women's basketball team claimed a come-from-behind victory on Wednesday evening as the defeated Cabrini 53-50 on the road. Abigail Boyer led the Macs with 11 points scored on the night.
 
The Mighty Macs allowed five points over the first three minutes of action before getting going offensively. Over the next four minutes, the Macs went on a nine-point scoring streak led by junior Kaitlyn Racobaldo who scored four straight points to start the rally. The Cavaliers then scored four points in the final two minutes of the quarter as the score stood 9-9 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The second quarter began in a back-and-forth battle that found the Macs in a 16-15 lead with under four minutes remaining in the quarter. The Cavaliers then went on a six-point streak to the end the quarter as the Macs were down 21-16 at the half.
 
Abigail Boyer dropped two three-pointers on the half to lead the Macs with six points overall.
 
Cabrini utilized the first three minutes of the third quarter to increase its lead over Immaculata to 28-18. Racobaldo then scored five straight points to narrow Cabrini's lead, starting a 15-8 rally to end the third quarter with the score standing at 36-33 in favor of Cabrini.
 
The fourth quarter found the Cavaliers increasing their lead over the Mighty Macs to 50-43 with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. A jumper by Abigail Lentowski and a three-pointer from Meghan Ricker brought the Macs to within two points at 50-48 with two minutes to go. A layup from Theresa Kearney with 33 seconds remaining tied the match up at 50-50 for the Macs. Kearney then made two successful free throws with 22 seconds left on the clock to give the Macs the advantage. Meghan Ricker then increased the lead to 53-50 with three seconds left on a free throw. Though the Cavaliers attempted to sink a last-second three-pointer, their efforts failed as the Macs secured a come-from-behind 53-50 victory.
 
Freshman Abigail Boyer led the charge on the night for the Mighty Macs' offense, scoring 11 points including three three-pointers along with four rebounds and one assist. Morgan Falcone also aided the Macs' offense with nine points while adding a team-leading four assists along with six rebounds and one steal. Theresa Kearney, meanwhile, led the Macs defensively with 17 rebounds while also contributing with six points scored, two assists, and two steals.
 
The Mighty Macs next return to Alumnae Hall on Saturday as they face off against Gwynedd Mercy at 1:00 P.M.
