CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Kristen Guthier scored her first goal of the season as the Immaculata women's soccer team dropped their match against DeSales on Wednesday night by a score of 3-1. Immaculata is now 0-2 on the season while DeSales improves to 3-1
The match remained scoreless throughout the first half as neither team could get past the opposing keeper. Senior goalkeeper
Brooke Shissler made six saves in net for the Mighty Macs in the first half. Overall on the period, DeSales outshot Immaculata 10-2.
Five minutes into the second half, the Bulldogs broke the ice as Allie Trick scored a goal at 49:50 mark. Trick scored her second goal of the game 11 minutes later to increase the Bulldogs' lead to 2-0. DeSales increased the lead to 3-0 at the 72:14 mark on a goal by Mackenzie Murphy.
36 seconds after the Bulldogs' third goal, junior
Kristen Guthier scored to get the Mighty Macs on the board. Her goal came on a header off of a free kick from fellow junior Corinne Karas. The goal is the first goal allowed in three games for the DeSales defense.
The goal would be the only goal the Mighty Macs could muster in the final 20 minutes, however, as the Mighty Macs lost to the Bulldogs 3-1.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they are on the road against Widener University. First kick for their match is scheduled for 6:00 P.M.
