IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata men's soccer team won an all-out battle on Thursday night, defeating the Bryn Athyn Lions 2-0. The Mighty Macs improve to 2-7-1 on the season while the Lions drop to 3-4.
The Mighty Macs got on the board first in the 26
th minute as
Josh Fonder scored on a one-timer fed to him by
Matthew Armas. A few minutes later,
John Bohrer scored after an offensive push on a pass back into the penalty box by
EJ Martin.
The score remained 2-0 heading into the half. The Mighty Macs outshot the Lions 10-3 at the half with six shots on goal overall.
The second half of the match was scoreless however the match remained spirited as the two teams battled it out for the ball for the entire half.
Immaculata, however, would come out on top as they defeated Bryn Athyn 2-0.
Bohrer and Fonder recorded five shots on net each while landing three shots on goal and one goal apiece. Senior goalkeeper
Garrett Pepper and freshman goalkeeper
John Wilhelm combined to record a shutout in net, making one save on the night.
The Mighty Macs will return to action next Saturday as they begin Atlantic East Conference play on the road against Marywood. First kick is scheduled to take place at 4:00 P.M.
