SCRANTON, Pa. – The Immaculata men's soccer team kicked off their Atlantic East Conference schedule with a 1-0 victory at Marywood on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman
Dylan Walter scored the first goal of his collegiate career to secure the Immaculata victory.
The match started off with 45 scoreless minutes as neither team could capitalize on opportunities in the first half. On the half, Marywood owned a 9-7 advantage in shots over Immaculata. On the half, senior goalkeeper
Garrett Pepper recorded three saves.
Heading into the second half, the match remained at a standstill until the 63
rd minute.
Damian Szumigraj took a free kick. His kick found the head of
Dylan Walter at the top of the penalty box, who then headed the ball into the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.
The goal would be enough to secure the victory as the Mighty Macs held onto the 1-0 advantage for the remainder of play.
On the match, the Mighty Macs put together five shots on goal versus Marywood's three.
Now standing at 3-7-2 with a 1-0 conference record, the Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they travel to the Atlantic East's newest member, Centenary, for a 1:00 P.M. matchup.
