IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought battle against Stevenson 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon. Following the match, Stevenson improves to 2-4-3 on the season while Immaculata drops to 0-7.
Following a quiet first half, the match remained scoreless as Immaculata found themselves trailing in shots on goal 1-3.
14 minutes into the second half, the Mustangs broke the ice as Michelle Mesquita scored on a corner kick from Nieve Barry.
For the next 30 minutes, the Mighty Macs would attempt to get the ball rolling offensively. Freshman
Rachel McNamee recorded two shots in the 61
st minute but could not connect.
The Mighty Macs continued to fight into the final minutes of the match when Olivia Stephen scored in the 88
th minute to secure a 2-0 victory for the Mustangs.
McNamee recorded three shots on goal on the day to lead the Mighty Macs offensively. In goal, senior
Brooke Shissler recorded seven saves on 18 total shots.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they travel up to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for a match against King's College. First kick for the Saturday evening match is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
