IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata Mighty Macs women's volleyball team split their tri-match today against Delaware Valley and Washington (Md.), going 1-1 on the day. They first defeated Delaware Valley in a 3-2 thriller before dropping their match against Washington 3-0. Following today's contests, Immaculata stands at 3-4 on the season.
After dropping a highly contest first set against the Delaware Valley Aggies 26-24, the Mighty Macs won set two 25-23. The Mighty Macs then won set three 25-17 before dropping set four 25-21.
With a score of 13-13 in the fifth set, sophomore
Isabella Ridgell connected on a kill from fellow sophomore
Emily Ettien. Ettien serviced the final point, which resulted in a defensive error from the Aggies, securing a 3-2 victory.
Junior
Isabelle Davis led the Mighty Macs offensively, recording 14 kills on the match. Ettien also led the Mighty Macs with 27 assists and eight service aces while sophomore
Ava Thorley recorded 28 digs to lead the Mighty Macs offensively.
In their second match of the day, the Mighty Macs faced off against the Washington Shorewomen. Washington kept Immaculata at bay in the first two matches 25-11 and 25-12. In set three, the Macs were down 16-9, but rallied back within one point as the score stood 19-18. The Shorewomen took over the rest of the way, securing a 3-0 sweep 25-21.
Davis picked up seven kills to lead the Macs offensively while senior
Devyn Crowder picked up four service aces.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Tuesday as they open up Atlantic East Conference play away at Cabrini at 7:00 P.M.
