READING, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team returned to action on Wednesday evening on the road at Albright College. Albright opened the scoring just 36 seconds into the contest and used this early lead to earn a 4-0 victory over Immaculata on Wednesday night.
In the first quarter, Albright wasted little time in scoring its first goal of the contest as Chelsea Johnson scored off a one-timer following a pass to the middle to give the Lions the early 1-0 first quarter lead. Albright added to its lead in the 19
th minute when Laurel Gingrich finished following a scramble in front of the cage to give the host Lions a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
In the third quarter, Johnson scored again for Albright with a tip-in following a penalty corner to extend the lead to 3-0 before Kelly Ventura-Blanco scored a goal off a tip-in of her own early in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 4-0 in favor of Albright.
In addition to its offensive efforts, Albright was equally as stout defensively as the Lions were able to hold the Macs without a shot ending the contest with an 18-0 advantage in shots while also ending the game with a 13-1 edge in corners.
In goal,
Julia Levase and
Ashley Finkbiner split time with Levase getting the start and making five saves on 11 shots while Finkbiner logged three saves of her own, facing seven shots in relief of Levase.
Immaculata will be back in action tomorrow night as the Macs return home to host No. 4 Kean inside Draper Walsh Stadium with that contest set to begin at 7 p.m.
