Field Hockey Cruises to Victory over Lancaster Bible

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Following a convincing 6-0 victory over Bryn Athyn earlier in the week, Immaculata returned home on Saturday afternoon to host Lancaster Bible. Immaculata continued its strong offensive run as the Macs defeated Lancaster Bible by a final of 5-0.

In the first quarter, Immaculata opened the scoring early as Lauren Buckel buried a penalty stroke in the third minute of regulation to give Immaculata an early 1-0 lead. For the duration of the quarter, Immaculata and Lancaster Bible battled in the midfield zone with neither offense generating consistent scoring opportunities, which sent the game to the second quarter with Immaculata leading 1-0.

In the second quarter, Immaculata extended its lead in the 21st minute when Lauren Vandenbraak converted a centering pass from the wing from Ryann Shemeley, which gave the Mighty Macs a solid 2-0 advantage. Immaculata stretched its lead to 3-0 in the 25th minute when Stephanie Webb tipped home a rebound off an assist from Rory Watson in front to give the hosts a solid first half advantage. Immaculata continued to apply pressure in the closing moments of the second quarter, but Lancaster Bible withstood the surge to keep the deficit at 3-0 heading to the halftime break.

In the 37th minute, Immaculata extended its lead thanks to a goal from Theresa Cerruti off an assist from Sophia Carlin, which extended the Immaculata lead to 4-0.

In the 47th minute, Immaculata scored its final goal of the contest when Camryn Oliver used an assist from Stephanie Webb to extend the home standing Mighty Macs lead to 5-0.

Julia Levase got the start in goal and played the first 51:22 making a pair of saves to earn the victory before exiting in favor of Ashley Finkbiner who closed out the contest for the Macs.

Immaculata ended the game with a 34-3 edge in shots and an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Immaculata will be back in action on Wednesday the 22nd at Albright with that contest set to begin at 7 p.m.
