IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team returned to action on Thursday afternoon for its long-awaited home opener against Atlantic East rival Neumann. Immaculata cruised past Neumann on Thursday afternoon as the Macs defeated the Knights by a final of 9-0.
Prior to the match, Immaculata honored its four-player senior class in
Julie Glemser,
Morgan Jacob,
Elizabeth Lipscomb, and
Caleigh Masterman for their contributions to the Immaculata women's tennis program over the course of their four-year careers. As a class, the Immaculata women's tennis senior class has combined to win 32 matches as a team including the first Atlantic East Conference Championship in May 2019.
In first doubles, Masterman and Lipscomb teamed up to win their match by an 8-1 final while Jacob and
Annamarie Degnan took their match by an 8-0 final. Jess Dougherty and
Kelly O'Brien played in the third doubles spot capturing their match by an 8-0 final.
In first singles, Masterman took her match 6-0, 6-0 while Jacob captured second singles 6-1, 6-0 with Degnan winning third singles 6-1, 6-0. In fourth singles, Lipscomb claimed her match 6-0, 6-0 with Dougherty taking her match by an identical 6-0, 6-0 final. O'Brien rounded out the Macs contingent with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in sixth singles to lift the Macs to the 9-0 victory over Neumann.
