IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team returned to the court on Tuesday afternoon for an Atlantic East semifinal battle against Cabrini. Immaculata cruised past the Cavaliers by a 5-0 final to return to the Atlantic East Championship match for the third time in as many tries.
Immaculata jumped out to an early 3-0 lead sweeping doubles action as
Caleigh Masterman and
Elizabeth Lipscomb captured their first doubles match by an 8-0 final while
Annamarie Degnan and
Morgan Jacob captured second doubles by an 8-2 final with
Kelly O'Brien and
Jessica Dougherty taking third doubles by forfeit.
In singles action, O'Brien won her sixth singles match via forfeit to put Immaculata up 4-0, in need of one just one more victory to secure the semifinal victory. Degnan closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the third singles spot to lift Immaculata to the 5-0 match victory.
Immaculata will return to action in the Atlantic East Championship match on Saturday afternoon against an opponent yet to be determined.
