DOVER, Del. – Immaculata men's lacrosse defeated Wesley 10-7 on Saturday. The Mighty Macs now stand at 3-4 on the season with a 2-3 conference in Atlantic East Conference play.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Immaculata struck first in the second quarter. Just 48 seconds into the quarter,
Anthony Inserra scored to give the Mighty Macs a 1-0 lead.
Six minutes into the second quarter, Wesley tied the game up 1-1. One minute later, the Wolverines took the 2-1 lead.
18 seconds after Wesley took the lead, the Mighty Macs tied the game back up at 2-2 on an unassisted goal by
Steven Long. 90 seconds later,
Sean Evans connected on a goal to give the Mighty Macs a 3-2 lead.
After a goal from Wesley to tie the game up with six minutes to go in the quarter, Evans scored with two minutes left in the half, giving Immaculata a 4-3 lead at the half.
Just under six minutes into the third quarter, Evans scored unassisted, increasing Immaculata's lead to 5-3.
Around the eight-minute mark, Wesley and Immaculata exchanged goals. First, Wesley scored. Then, 11 seconds later Long scored on an
Anthony Inserra assist to maintain Immaculata's two-goal lead at 6-4.
Long scored while Immaculata was a man up with 4:38 to go in the third quarter. Wesley scored just over a minute later as Immaculata led Wesley 7-5 heading into the fourth quarter.
Long scored back-to-back unassisted goals in the first five minutes of action in the fourth quarter, giving IU a 9-5 lead. Wesley scored just under the 10-minute mark before Long scored again at the nine-minute mark.
The score remained 10-6 until, with seven seconds remaining, Wesley scored as Immaculata won 10-7.
Long scored six goals on the day while tallying 18 shots with 12 of them being on goal.
The Mighty Macs return to action on Wednesday as they wrap up their regular season with a home match against Marymount. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
