Dombroski Scores in OT to Propel Mighty Macs Over Pacers

IMMACULATA, Pa. – For the second day in a row, the Mighty Macs women's soccer team found themselves in a double-overtime match. Today, however, that match would not result in a draw thanks to some overtime heroics from Kelli Dombroski.

After 45 minutes of action, the Mighty Macs and the Pacers were tied 0-0. The team stood neck-and-neck in both shots (five apiece) and saves (two apiece).

In the 62nd minute, however, the Mighty Macs broke the ice as Dombroski scored her first goal of the game on an assist from Kristen Guthier.

20 minutes later, in the 82nd minute, Marywood would score a goal of their own, tying the game up with eight minutes left in regulation.

Just 85 seconds later, however, the Mighty Macs regained the lead on a shot by Bridget McDonough. Guthier recorded her second assist of the day as Immaculata took the lead with seven minutes remaining.

With under 90 seconds to go in regulation, however, Marywood would tie the game up, forcing overtime play.

Through the end of regulation, Immaculata outshot Marywood 13-10 while the Pacers held the lead in corner kicks 4-3.

The match remained deadlocked through the first period of regulation, with only one shot being recorded during the period.

Dombroski would change that in the second period of OT. The Mighty Macs crashed the net as Dombrowski found the loose ball, sending it into the back of the net in the 104th minute of action.

Dombroski, a sophomore, scored two goals on the day for the Mighty Macs while Guthier, a fellow sophomore, tallied two assists.

Immaculata and Marywood will face off again on Saturday for the final match of the 2020-21 season. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 P.M. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
