LANDISVILLE, Pa.-The Immaculata women's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon in search of its first victory of the young season against Lancaster Bible. Immaculata competed well throughout the afternoon to cruise to a 8-1 win for its first victory of the young season.
In doubles action,
Caleigh Masterman and
Elizabeth Lipscomb teamed up to take the first doubles action by a final of 8-2 before
Morgan Jacob and
Annamarie Degnan captured second doubles by a final of 8-3.
Kelly O'Brien and
Jessica Dougherty teamed up for third doubles taking their match by a final of 8-1.
In singles play, Masterman opened with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in first singles before Jacob droppd her second singles match 6-0, 6-2. This would be the only point of the afternoon for Lancaster Bible as Degnan rallied to win her match by a final of 1-6, 6-3, 111-9 while Lipscomb took fourth singles 6-1, 6-1. In fifth singles, Dougherty emerged victorious by a final of 6-2, 6-0 while
Jenna Muttik took her sixth singles match 6-0, 7-5 for her first collegiate victory and the final point of the day for Immaculata.
Immaculata will now turn its attention to Atlantic East play, which begins on Wednesday, April 7 at Marywood.
