ABINGTON, Pa. – The Immaculata men's basketball team dropped their road slate against Penn State Abington on Saturday 76-60. The Mighty Macs were led on the day by senior
Brandon McCullough, who earned 13 points on the game.
The Mighty Macs found themselves down early as the Nittany Lions went 5-0 to start the game before increasing their lead to 10-3 four minutes into the game. The Macs, however, went on a 10-point rally of their own to get back into it. McCullough scored five of the Macs' 10 points on the rally. Over the next 10 minutes of action, the score continued to bounce back and forth with the Macs owning a 22-21 advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the first half. The Nittany Lions regained control in the final six minutes, outscoring the Macs 15-8 as the Macs trailed 36-29 at the half.
On the half, the Macs shot 11-for-29 (37.9%) from the field while the Nittany Lions shot 14-for-29 (48.3%). The Macs also went 3-for-12 (25%) from beyond the arc while the Lions went 3-for-10 (30%).
Penn State Abington increased its lead quickly to start the second half. Just over four minutes into the half, Penn State owned a 50-35 lead over Immaculata. For the remainder of the half, Immaculata attempted to mount a comeback but were unsuccessful as Penn State Abington matched Immaculata point-for-point in the 76-60 final score.
McCullough led the Macs offensively on the day with 13 points scored along with four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Gregory Vlassopoulos also contributed offensively with 10 points on the day. Defensively,
Tyler Tillery led the Macs with seven rebounds while also earning nine points on the game.
The Mighty Macs will return to action next on Tuesday, December 14
th as they host Kean University for an 8:00 P.M. matchup.
