Macs' Offense on Display against PSU Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. – The Mighty Macs' offense was on display as they defeated Penn State Brandywine 89-33 on Monday night. With the victory, the Macs improved to 3-1 on the 2021-22 season.
 
The Mighty Macs scored early in the first quarter and did not turn back, scoring 15 points in the first five minutes of the game alone, taking a 15-5 lead. After a five-point run from the Nittany Lions, the Macs quickly regained their double-digit lead before ending the first quarter doubling the Lions with a 26-13 advantage. On the quarter, the Mighty Macs shot .500 from the floor going 11-for-22 while adding three three-pointers as well.
 
Immaculata stayed hot in the second quarter, going on a 15-2 rally over the first eight minutes of the quarter. Jordan Rook was responsible for seven of those points, recording two layups and a three-pointer in rapid succession over 76 seconds of action. As the half broke, Immaculata held a commanding 45-20 lead over Penn State Brandywine.
 
At the half, the Macs were shooting 19-for-45 (42.2%) from the field while going 4-for-16 (25%) from beyond the arc. The Macs also added three points from the charity stripe on three free throw attempts. Penn State Brandywine, meanwhile, shot 7-for-22 (31.8%) from the field while going 3-for-8 (37.5%) on three-pointers on the half. The Mighty Macs were led on the half by freshman Abigail Lentowski and graduate student Theresa Kearney. Lentowski recorded nine points, shooting 4-for-6 (66.7%) from the field while Kearney dropped four points going 4-for-8 (50%) from the field. Both Lentowski and Kearney also recorded four rebounds on the half.
 
Immaculata continued to wreak havoc on the Penn State Brandywine defense heading into the second half, scoring 14 consecutive points to start the half. Penn State did not score until just over three minutes remained on the third quarter. Overall, Immaculata outscored Penn State 22-4 on the third quarter, owning a 67-24 lead going into the fourth quarter. Rook led the Macs offensively on the quarter, scoring seven points.
 
Going into the fourth quarter, the Mighty Macs did not relent as they continued to extend their lead over the Nittany Lions. The Lions attempted to regain momentum early but could not outscore the Macs. Four minutes into the quarter, the Lions scored seven points on the quarter while the Macs recorded nine. From that point on, the Macs sealed the deal, going on a 13-2 rally to end the game with an 89-33 victory over the Nittany Lions.
 
Overall, the Mighty Macs shot 37-for-75 (49.3%) from the field on the game while going 8-for-25 (32.0%) from beyond the arc. Additionally, the Macs shot 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe, missing only one free throw on the night.
 
Lentowski ran the show for the Mighty Macs on both sides of the ball on the night, scoring 19 points while recording 12 rebounds as she earned the double-double. Rook, meanwhile, has scored in the double digits in every game so far the Mighty Macs, continuing to do so tonight with 14 points. She also recorded four assists and two steals on the night.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to Alumnae Hall on Wednesday night for a 7:00 P.M. matchup with Moravian.
