Women's Basketball Drops Close Match Versus Swarthmore

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Jordan Rook scored 19 points as the Immaculata women's basketball team dropped their Monday night matchup against Swarthmore 51-47.
 
 The first quarter found the Mighty Macs and the Garnet in deadlock with neither team managing to maintain the advantage over the other. With two minutes remaining in the quarter, the score stood at 9-9. A layup by Theresa Kearney with a minute to go gave the Macs a narrow 11-10 lead heading into the second quarter.
 
The one-point margin would not last as the score remained in close contention during the second quarter, with the score standing at 20-20 with 73 seconds remaining in the half. Jordan Rook, however, dropped five consecutive points including a three-pointer to give Immaculata a 25-20 lead over Swarthmore at the half.
 
Junior Jordan Rook led the Mighty Macs on the first half, scoring 11 points on the half overall. Rook shot 4-for-8 from the field. As a team, the Macs shot 9-for-34 (26.5%) from the field and 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the charity stripe. The Garnet, meanwhile, shot 8-for-30 (26.7%) from the field and 1-for-6 (16.7%) from beyond the arc.
 
The Mighty Macs extended their lead to 31-23 four minutes into the third quarter. The Macs would then be outshot 7-2 for the remainder of the quarter as the Garnet narrowed the Macs' lead to 33-30 at the end of the third quarter.
 
Swarthmore took a 36-35 lead over Immaculata under two minutes into the fourth quarter and did not look back. Immaculata would fail to regain the lead for the remainder of the game with the final score standing at 51-47.
 
On the game, the Macs were outshot by the Garnet in the field. The Garnet shot 18-for-47 (38.3%) from the field while the Macs shot 19-for-72 (26.4%). The Garnet also took advantage of Mighty Macs penalties, shooting 14-for-24 (58.3%) from the charity stripe versus the Macs' 7-for-13 (53.8%).
 
Jordan Rook led the Mighty Macs offensively on the game, recording 19 points while shooting 7-for-12 from the field. Abigail Lentowski, meanwhile, led the Macs with 13 rebounds on the game while accruing three points as well.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action following Thanksgiving break on Monday with an away match against Penn State Brandywine. Tip-off against the Nittany Lions is currently scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
