IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's basketball team dominated in their home opener on Saturday, defeating the University of Valley Forge Patriots 66-34. The Macs improve to 2-0 on the season while Valley Forge drops to 0-2.
Valley Forge owned an 8-6 lead with under four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Immaculata then responded, going on a 12-point rally to end the quarter with an 18-8 advantage of Valley Forge. On the quarter,
Abigail Lentowski led Immaculata on the quarter with seven points scored.
The Mighty Macs maintained their lead throughout the second quarter, increasing the lead heading into the half on a three-pointer from
Theresa Kearney as the clock expired. At the half, Lentowski led the Macs with seven points scored and six rebounds.
On the half, Immaculata shot 8-for-33 (24.2%) from the field to lead over Valley Forge, who shot 6-for-26 (23.1%) from the field.
Lentowski scored six points consecutively to kick off the second half as the Mighty Macs dominated the third quarter. The score stood at 34-18 when the Macs went on a 14-2 rally to end the quarter with a 28-point lead over the Patriots at 48-20.
Immaculata continued to apply pressure on Valley Forge throughout the fourth quarte not allowing Valley Forge to come back while increasing their lead further. The Macs concluded the match with a 66-34 victory over Valley Forge, nearly doubling Valley Forge in points.
Freshman
Abigail Lentowski led the way for the Mighty Macs offensively, recording a double-double with 18 points scored and 10 rebounds on the match.
Jordan Rook, meanwhile, recorded 11 points, four assists, and five rebounds for the Mighty Macs while
Reese Mullins also accrued 10 points for the Macs.
The Mighty Macs shout 22-for-65 (33.8%) from the field on the day while shooting 19-for-29 (65.5%) from the charity stripe. The Patriots, meanwhile, went 12-for-52 (23.1%) from the field.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Monday as they host Swarthmore for a 6:00 P.M. matchup.
