IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's volleyball team honored their two seniors,
Devyn Crowder and
Julianna Rotondo, ahead of their match against Centenary on Friday evening. On the match, Rotondo led the Mighty Macs with five aces and 15 digs on the night while Crowder recorded three blocks on the night.
The Mighty Macs defeated the Cyclones 3-0 on the night, winning the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-13.
In set one, the Macs took an early 12-4 lead with
Emily Ettien, Rotondo, and
Isabelle Davis each recorded an ace in their subsequent turns serving. The Cyclones then came back to make the score 13-10 before the Macs were able to recover. Then, the Macs went on a 12-2 rally to secure the 25-12 outcome in set one. Davis led the Macs with four kills on the set.
Rotondo earned two consecutive kills to kick off set two as Immaculata took a 3-0 advantage before Centenary had a chance to serve. The score went back-and-forth on the set until it was locked at 13-13. Immaculata then began to string together consecutive points to take the lead, blanking Centenary 12-4 for the remainder of the set. Davis and Rotondo each recorded three kills on the set.
The Macs took an 8-3 lead early on in set three and did not look back. While the Cyclones came to within three at 13-10,
Isabella Ridgell responded with three aces while the Macs went on a seven-point rally. The Macs would later take the set 25-13, securing the sweep over the Cyclones.
On the match, Davis led the Macs with nine kills on the night. Rotondo and Ettien each recorded five aces while Rotondo and
Ava Thorley led the Macs with 15 digs each.
The Mighty Macs now look ahead to the Atlantic East Tournament. With the victory, the Macs have secured the #6 seed on the tournament and will travel to #3 seed Neumann on Tuesday, November 2
nd. A time for the match has yet to be announced.
