IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata field hockey team honored its senior class ahead of their match against Cedar Crest on Thursday night. The Mighty Macs honored captains
Katie Mulvey and
Gabby Greco for their distinguished careers at Immaculata.
Their match against the Falcons remained scoreless for most of the first quarter until senior
Gabby Greco stepped in to break the ice for the Macs with 64 seconds to go in the quarter.
Just over two minutes into the second quarter, Cedar Crest responded with a goal from Kiley Marone to tie the match at 1-1. At halftime, the Falcons led the Mighty Macs 9-6 in shots taken.
Three minutes into the third quarter, Marone scored the go-ahead goal for Cedar Crest. Viktoriya Georgieva then made the lead 3-1 three minutes later in the 36
th minute.
Despite a few opportunities in the fourth quarter for the Mighty Macs, they could not secure another goal to get back into the contest as the score stayed 3-1. On the day, the Mighty Macs were outshot 13-11 by the Falcons.
Greco recorded the goal for Immaculata on one shot taken while
Gianna Gatto,
Maddy Edwards, and
Caitlin Ryan each recorded two shots and one shot on goal on the night.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they begin Atlantic East Conference tournament play. The five-seed, they will travel up to Marywood as they face the four-seed Pacers at 1:00 P.M.
