Macs Defeat Nittany Lions to Close Regular Season with a Victory

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Immaculata women's soccer team closed out the regular season on a high note as they defeated Penn State Abington 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The first half stood at a 0-0 stalemate and was looking to remain that way going into halftime with one minute to go. Bridget McDonough, however, had something different in mind, scoring with five seconds remaining in the half. Julia Carter picked up the assist as Immaculata owned a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Mighty Macs wasted little time in expanding their lead in the second half. Six minutes into the half, Jessica Gindle scored to give the Macs a 2-0 lead. Kelli Dombroski earned the assist. Despite being outshot 20-12 on the match, Immaculata held on the lead, allowing a goal in the 83rd minute, to end the regular season with a 2-1 victory over PSU Abington.

Gindle led the Macs with two shots on goal and one goal on the match for the Macs. Additionally, McDonough's goal was her team-leading third on the year.

The Mighty Macs will kick off their Atlantic East Conference playoff run next Monday, November 1st. The opponent and location for the Atlantic East Quarterfinal match is expected to be announced later this week.
