GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Immaculata women's soccer team defeated Gwynedd Mercy 2-0 on Saturday to finish Atlantic East regular season competition with a 1-4 conference record.
The Immaculata offense put up 21 shots on the first half, with 10 shots on goal. While Gwynedd Mercy only recorded three total shots on the half, the score remained 0-0 for the first half.
Kristen Guthier and
Jessica Gindle each recorded four shots on the half to lead Immaculata at the half.
Six minutes into the second half, however, the Mighty Macs broke the ice. Junior
Nicole Brennan took a corner kick for the Mighty Macs, sending it to fellow junior
Corrie Karas. Karas then connected on a header past the Griffins' goalie, securing a 1-0 lead for the Macs on her first goal of the season.

Kristen Guthier fed
Rachel McNamee on a fast break following an offensive attempt by Gwynedd Mercy. McNamee defeated the Gwynedd Mercy keeper on a one-on-one ball to secure the 2-0 advantage. McNamee's goal was her second on the season. The Mighty Macs then held the 2-0 lead for the remaining 19 minutes of play.
Immaculata led Gwynedd Mercy 34-7 in shots with 19 of them being on goal. Guthier led the Macs in shots taken with seven while earning the assist. In net, senior
Brooke Shissler recorded four saves on four shots on goal.
The Mighty Macs will return to action for their final regular season match on Tuesday as they travel to Penn State Abington for a 4:00 P.M. kickoff.
