IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match against Marymount on Wednesday. The Mighty Macs lost to the Saints 3-1, dropping their record to 4-8 on the season with an 0-2 record in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
Set one was a neck-and-neck battle in which both teams exchanged small leads early on. The Mighty Macs owned the lead 19-7 when the Saints went on a four-point run to secure a two-point lead of their own. The lead held until the set point at 24-22 when the Saints earned the winning point on a kill to take the set 25-22.
 
The Macs found themselves down 18-16 in set two when a kill from Julianna Rotondo kicked off a four-point rally in which the Mighty Macs flipped the script on the Saints after set one. Isabella Ridgell recorded two back-to-back services aces during that stretch. The Saints came back to tie it up at 22-22 before a kill from Isabelle Davis and two service aces from McKenna Ryan secured the Macs' set two victory 25-22.
 
After set two, however, Marymount shut down the Immaculata offense. Marymount took sets three and four by scores of 25-11 and 25-12 to secure the 3-1 outcome in favor of Marymount.
 
The Macs were lead by Isabelle Davis who recorded six kills and 10 digs to lead the team in both categories. Julianna Rotondo also accrued five kills for the Macs while Thorley also earned 10 digs. Additionally, McKenna Ryan recorded four aces and eight digs on the night for the Macs.
 
Immaculata returns to action tomorrow night for a non-conference matchup at Penn State Harrisburg. Their match against the Nittany Lions is scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M.
