IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata field hockey team dropped their home match against St. Mary's 8-0 on Wednesday evening. The Macs now drop to 4-11 overall with a 1-2 conference record.
Just over 90 seconds into the game, St. Mary's struck first as Kelly Emge scored unassisted to give the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Emge assisted a goal by Gabrielle Corder, increasing the Seahawks' lead. The scored remained 2-0 for the remainder of the first quarter.
Corder picked up her second goal nine minutes into the second quarter on an assist from Rachel Lansbury to give St. Mary's a 3-0 advantage. The score stayed 3-0 heading into the half.
Through the first half, the Mighty Macs trailed the Seahawks 10-0 in shots taken.
St. Mary's increased its lead over Immaculata in the third quarter. First, Lansbury scored just over four minutes into the third quarter. Then, Audrey Dickens scored off a penalty corner with assists from Lansbury and Corder in the 41st minute to give St. Mary's a 5-0 lead.
58 seconds into the fourth quarter, Ashley Berrol scored to increase the St. Mary lead to 6-0. Lansbury and Sophie Carlson also scored while Immaculata was short-handed due to a yellow card to secure St. Mary's 8-0 victory over Immaculata.
The Macs were outshot 19-1 with their sole shot coming from sophomore
Lauren Vandenbraak.
Immaculata will return to action on Saturday for a 1:00 P.M. home match against Cabrini.
