ORLANDO, Fl.- The Immaculata women's tennis team began its Spring Trip to the Sunshine State on Sunday evening with a non-league match opposite Baldwin Wallace. Despite taking two of three matches in doubles competition, Immaculata fell by a final of 5-4.
At first doubles,
Morgan Jacob and
Annamarie Degnan battled throughout before falling 8-1 before
Caleigh Masterman and
Elizabeth Lipscomb captured second doubles by a final of 8-3 to even the match at 1-1.
Jessica Dougherty and
Kelly O'Brien captured third doubles by a final of 8-5 to give Immaculata a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
In singles action, Masterman captured first singles in straight sets (6-0,6-4) while Jacob dropped second singles 6-4, 6-2. In the third singles spot, Degnan fell 7-5, 6-4 while Lipscomb dropped her fourth singles match 6-4, 6-1.
Jessica Dougherty also dropped her fifth singles match by a final of 6-3, 6-2 while O'Brien captured her sixth singles match 6-3, 6-1 in the 5-4 setback for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata will be back in action tomorrow morning against Shippensburg with that match set to begin at 8 a.m.
