UNION, NJ- Men's Volleyball dropped a pair of games in a tri-match with Kean and Ramapo on Saturday afternoon at the Harwood Arena.
The Mighty Macs fell in straight sets in CVC action against Kean by the scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-19. Immaculata also fell to the Road Runners 3-0 in non-conference play.
Match 1
Immaculata opened up the weekend with conference play against the Cougars and fell 3-0. The Mighty Macs battled throughout the match but couldn't sustain a big run against Kean.
In the first set, Kean jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but Immaculata trimmed into the lead following a kill by RJ Ubowski to make it 9-7 in favor of Kean. Immaculata had it's highest hitting percentage in the first set at .250 but couldn't slow down Kean on its way to a 25-14 set win.
The Cougars dominated the Mighty Macs attack in the second set and only allowed Immaculata to register one kill in the set as they took a commanding 2-0 lead.
Immaculata had a weekend-best eight kills in the third set but Kean registered a .527 hitting percentage in the match and held on for the 3-0 win.
Patrick Zeoli led the team with six kills while Bryce Wiltbank and John Bohrer each had two kills in the match. Garrett Pepper dished out nine assists while Donte Ramos had four digs and three assists.
Match 2
Immaculata tried to rebound against Ramapo but fell by the scores of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-20. John Bohrer had more than half of the team's kills in the second match and tallied seven of the teams 13 kills.
Pepper registered seven assists while Ramos picked up five more in the setback. The Road Runners limited Immaculata to a negative hitting percentage (-0.16) and tallied 42 kills in the win.
Immaculata nearly had an impressive comeback in the final set, but fell short. The Mighty Macs trailed 20-13, but cut the deficit to 23-20 following a 7-3 run by Immaculata. Ramapo closed out the match with two straight points to close the match.
Immaculata hosts Marymount on Saturday March 7th at 2 p.m. in CVC action.
