IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's volleyball team returned to the court on Wednesday evening for its first match in over a week against the Eastern University Eagles in non-conference action inside Alumnae hall. Immaculata battled throughout, however, the Macs fell by a final of 3-0.
In the first set, Immaculata and Eastern traded points throughout the opening points of the set before Eastern got on a run en route to a 25-13 first set victory. The second set was a similar story for Eastern as the Eagles and Macs traded points through the first five points of the set to even the score at 5-5 before a late set run by Eastern lifted the Eagles to the second set victory by an identical 25-13 second set victory, thus, giving the Eagles a commanding 2-0 lead heading to the third set.
In the third set, Immaculata opened on a 5-1 run before Eastern responded with a 5-1 run of its own to even the score at 6-6. The two teams traded points throughout much of the set as the score would be tied at 14-14 midway through the set. From this point, Eastern edged ahead with a short-run to claim a 21-19 lead late in the third set. In the final points of the third set, Eastern and Immaculata scored five-points each as Eastern held on for the 26-24 victory to win the third set 3-0.
Bryce Wiltbank ended the match with a team-high six kills while
John Carter ended the match with a team-high 12 digs.
Garrett Pepper ended the night with the team lead in assists with 12 assists on the evening while also registering five kills, six digs, and one ace.
For the match as a whole, Immaculata ended the evening with a .098 hitting percentage with the top hitting percentage of the evening coming in the third set when the Macs hit .257 on the set.
