SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Marywood on Saturday afternoon by a final of 67-65 after a last-second shot attempt by Marywood managed to fall after hanging on the front of the rim.

In the first quarter, Immaculata and Marywood traded baskets as the Macs outscored the Pacers by just one point (13-12) to carry a slim lead into the second quarter of play. During the second quarter, the Macs matched their first quarter scoring output with 13 more points while holding Marywood to just nine to carry a slim lead into the halftime break.

Following the halftime break, Immaculata once again outscored its hosts posting 20 points while limiting its foes to 19 points to extend its lead to 45-41 heading to the halftime break. The fourth quarter remained close throughout but it was a late 9-2 run by the Pacers that made the difference as Marywood escaped with a narrow 67-65 victory over Immaculata on Saturday afternoon.

Theresa Kearney ended the game as the Macs leading scorer with a game-high 22 points while Annie Kohutka and Brielle Rigo added 17 and 16 points, respectively in the setback. Rigo also ended the contest with a team-high 13 rebounds to register a double-double on the afternoon.

Aryah Aungst led the way in scoring for Marywood ending with 18 points including 16 in the second half of play.

As a team, Immaculata shot just 38.1 % from the field and 33.3 % from three-point range while also shooting 81.8 % from the stripe in the setback.

Marywood also ended the game with a slim +9 edge (42-33) edge in rebounding.

Immaculata will be back in action next Saturday afternoon at Wesley beginning at 1 p.m.
